8- على سطح السفين

إنَّ في الآفاقِ دنيا في انتظار المُبحِرينْ
مِن وراءِ الموجِ تبدو ، متعةً للناظِرينْ
انتقالٌ وانتفاعٌ في ربوع العالَمينْ
نقتفي دربَ جدودٍ صابروا عِبر السنينْ
في الخطوبِ لا نبالي أو نُماري أو نلينْ
إذ بدا أن المنايا في لقاءِ الخائفينْ
كم تعلَّمنا دروساً ، وعلى سطح السفينْ
نؤثِرُ الغيرَ ونُعطي عونَنا للواجدينْ
إن لقينا الرزقَ كان الحمدُ حمدَ الشاكرينْ
أو فشِلنا في خُطانا ، كان أجرُ الصابرينْ

ِOn the Deck

By the horizons lies a world of treasure,

Behind the waves, a watcher's pleasure,

We move around through the extensive globe,

As we trace our forebears and search and probe,

Neither do we relent nor mind to be graven,

For death does only await the craven,

So many lessons on the deck we learn,

We love each other, and show concern,

When we find subsistence, we thank our lord,

If not, we live with what we can afford.
