FORTY YEARS IN KUWAIT BY VIOLET DICKSON
أربعون عاما في الكويت مقدمه: ألفت عائلة ديكسون العديد من الكتب عن الكويت ومنطقة الخليج العربي، مثل عرب الصحراء والكويت وجاراتها لهارولد ديكسون( ابوسعود)، والكويت كانت وطني ونظره جديده للكويت لزهره فريث، وسنسلط الضوء في بحثنا عن مؤلفات فيوليت ديكسون (ام سعود)، ولمعرفة نبذه عنها انظر الرابط: فيوليت ديكسون - فرحان الفرحان مؤلفات ومقالات فيوليت:صوره لأم سعود والشيخ سعد رحمه الله http://www.kuwait-history.net/vb/up/...2720100126.jpg 1.النباتات البريه في الكويت والبحرين، 1955م. لم تتم ترجمته الى الآن. 2.أربعون عاما في الكويت، 1971م. تقديم وتعليق وطبع المؤرخ سيف مرزوق الشملان الكتاب في 1999م بالتعاون مع دار قرطاس، لكن للأسف نفذت جميع النسخ ولم يعيدوا طباعة الكتاب. 3.مقاله بعنوان: " زياره لجزيرتى مسكان وعوهه في الكويت في الخليج العربي" نشرت في مجلة جمعية التاريخ الطبيعي في بومباي في 1942م. 4.مقدمه لكتاب " تاريخ الكويت الطبيعي" لديفيد كلايتون، اصدار شركة نفط الكويت 1983. أرشيفها المصور: الكتاب: ان القارئ للكتابين الرائعين عن منطقة الخليج العربي للكولونيل ديكسون: عرب الصحراء، الكويت وجاراتها، لايستغرب من اسلوب زوجته فيوليت ديكسون وطريقتها المشوقه في كتابة سيرتها الذاتيه بعنوان اربعون عاما في الكويت. انه اكثر من كتاب شخصي بتغطيته الرائعه والمميزه للحديث عن الصحراء وسكانها،العادات والتقاليد، وجميع الجوانب التى تنقلها لنا المؤلفه. كعروسة شابه للوكيل السياسي وصلت فيوليت لمنطقة الشرق الأوسط الغير متطوره في 1920م . قابلت المؤلفه في هذه الفتره برترام توماس ( أول من عبر الربع الخالي)، هاري سانت جون فيلبي ( المؤلف الشهير عن جزيرة العرب والملقب بعبدالله فيلبي)، جيورادل بيل( الرحاله)، والسير بيرسي كوكس. بعد قضاء فترة قصيره في الهند ،عادت ام سعود مع زوجها للخليج العربي واستقرا في الكويت. عاصرت المؤلفه مدينة الكويت القديمه قبل اكتشاف النفط، وشاهدت التغير الهائل الحاصل للمدينه وللسكان، وطريقة معيشتهم منذ قدوم شركات النفط في 1933م. المؤلفه على صلة ومعرفه معرفة بالشيوخ وابن سعود، وبصلتها وتآلفها مع البدو قامت بالعديد من الرحلات معهم، كرحلات بريه وللمواقع الاثريه المهمه، وللعديد من المناسبات مثل الزواج عند البدو. آثرت ام سعود البقاء في الكويت، بعد وفاة زوجها في 1959م. اسست ام سعود منحه دراسيه للنساء الكويتيات في المجلس الثقافي البريطاني في الكويت في 1976م. الفهرس: ملاحظة للمؤلف مقدمه الجزء الأول بلاد مابين النهرين والهند 28-1920، بوشهر 28-1929 عروس في بلاد ما بين النهرين الأوقات الغير مستقره كويتا، بيكانير، بوشهر الجزء الثاني الكويت 39-1929 الحياة في الوكالة السياسيه الناس والاحداث 32-1929 بداية ظهور النفط السنوات الأولى مع شركة نفط الكويت39-1936 الجزء الثالث سنوات الحرب ومابعدها59-1939 الكويت خلال فترة الحرب (1)41-1939 الكويت خلال فترة الحرب (2)45-1942 الفرح والحزن الصور: هلال 1921، المؤلفه وزوجها بلباس عربي تقليدي هارولد بعد لعب البولو دار المندوب في بوشهر المهراجا في قصر الجونرمع بيجي سنج، بيكانير قصر لارجاه، بيكانير 1925 مجموعه من الموظفين في دار المندوب في بوشهر 1928 صوره تاريخيه للملك ابن سعود في خباري وضحه الكابتن ه.ر.ب ديكسون صيد الحباري في صحراء الكويت سرب من الطائرات في الجهراء في 7/1/1930 الطائرات في طريقها لقتال المتمردون هارولد في مكتبه في الكويت 1950 هارولد وزوجته 1958 صاحب السمو الشيخ صباح السالم جابر المطيري ( مرافقنا) فيصل الهندال ناصر راشد المري رجل ايراني من سكان جزيرة فيلكا بعد التخيم حمل معدات التخيم في اللوري بدويه رضيعه اطفال بدو السياره( هامبر) للتنقل في الرحلات البريه على وناصر المري المؤلفه واصدقاءها في جزيرة تاروت حفر الباطن: آبار قديمه معبد يوناني في جزيرة فيلكا قرية الفاو تاج الخاتمه: بعد التعرف على محتوي الكتاب واهمية المعلومات بداخله ،ادعوا دار قرطاس على اعادة طبع الكتاب ونشره. جمع واعداد وترجمة: اخوكم بوعبدالرحمن الجامع المراجع: أربعون عاما في الكويت لفيوليت ديكسون. فيوليت ديكسون لكلوديا الرشود. موقع ويكيبديا. |

Kuwait: Kuwait Oil Company -1983 Gallery Book Readers of Colonel H.R.P Dickson's two monumental books The Arab of the Desert and Kuwait and her Neighbors- both of which are standard works on these fascinating and important regions, and still in constant demand – will have some idea of what to expect of this, his widow's autobiography. It is of course, a much more personal book, but it is permeated by the same enthusiasm for the desert world and its inhabitants, their customs and beliefs and traditions, all of which the author conveys with great warmth and understanding She first arrived in the Middle East in 1920 as a young bride, and she describes her experiences as the wife of political agent in parts that were still undeveloped. It was there that she met a whole group of people who were joined by their enthusiasm for Araby- Bretram Thomas ( who was later the first to cross the Empty Quarter), H.St Johan Philipy ( the great authority on Arabia), and Gertrude Bell( the explorer); apart from sir Percy Cox and their fellows in Government service. It was here too that she first came into close contact with the badawin, amongst whom she later travelled far and wide throughout the region on terms of great intimacy After a short spell in India, she and her husband returned to the gulf and began their life in Kuwait. She saw the old Kuwait which existed before oil was discovered there; she saw enormous changes to people, and their way of life, and to the towns and landscape- that came with the oil companies after 1933; she knew the Shaikhs as well tribesmen and nomads; she met Ibn Saud. She travelled to see places of archaeological interest, took part in tribal weddings and other festivities, and made lifelong friends everywhere among the Arabs And when Colonel Dickson died she stayed in Kuwait, since for her the 'desert still calls'. Now she is virtually an institution there, recognized everywhere and greeted affectionately by the Arabs. She was created a Dame of the order of the British Empire in 1976 Hillah, 1929.
